Public Speaking

Written Apr 28, 2011 1:56pm I had 4th Rituxan treatment Tuesday, which means I get a break until October!!!  All went well.  I speak tonight at the Cancer Survivor Benefit.  I’d appreciate prayers!  This is a first for me!  I’ve shared with many people either one on one or in small group settings but never in front of a crowd like this.  I pray that I would be able to bring encouragement to others but mostly that my words would bring Honor and Glory to God.  Thanks 🙂

Removing My Port

Written Apr 22, 2011 5:01am My 3rd Rituxan treatment went well on Tuesday. I then went to my surgeon’s office to have my port removed.  I was not looking forward to that at all.  So ya I’m a nurse and if I would have been the nurse taking care of me I would have totally been all into checking the whole procedure out!  BUT I was the patient and wasn’t too thrilled about hearing my scar tissue cut away from my port/catheter.  So anyways, I was struggling with not passing out (even though i was already flat on my back)….it was more the sounds I hearing, but as I layed there I began to pray.  I then remembered the book I read, Heaven is for Real,  I recalled how the little boy described when he was in Heaven that as people prayed the Holy Spirit would shoot down power to those asking for help.  So I began…

Maintenance Went Well

Written Apr 13, 2011 12:59pm Rituxan treatment went well yesterday.  I was asked to speak at the Relay For Life Cancer Survivor’s Banquet on April 28th.  I am honored to do this but nervous about speaking in front of all those people!  In Psalms the Lord says, “If you open your mouth, I will fill it”.  So I trust He’ll give me the right words and the courage to speak them! 🙂

Port Test

Written Apr 8, 2011 12:30am Saw my surgeon today.  We will be doing an xray with dye on Monday morning to check my central line port.  If it’s disconnected, leaking or other malfunction I will have it removed.  Praying for clarity of diagnosis from xray so we can determine which route to take. Have a great weekend everyone!! Love Kim Written Apr 11, 2011 8:00pm I had a xray under fluroscopy today.  Basically what that means is they accessed my port by placing a needle in it and injected a contrast dye into port so that it highlighted the port and the catheter running through my blood vessel.  While they injected the dye I was under a real time xray machine.  (it was really cool I could see my lungs breathing!!!)  Anyways, the xray showed that there is a problem with the port catheter, possible a weakness in the catheter that broke…

Trouble With My Port

Written Apr 6, 2011 4:24pm My first maintenance treatment went well.  Unfortunately my central line port didn’t cooperate.  When the nurse tried to flush it after accessing it I had terribly sharp pain in my left shoulder and it flushed hard.  It has never done that before.  We opted not to use it.  They were able to start an IV and give me my medicine that way.  The Rituxan isn’t hard on my veins so it’s not a big deal.  I am currently waiting on the Dr to call back to see what I need to do about my port.  I may have to have a dye test to see if there is “leak” or some problem with it.  If that is the case they will remove it and I’ll continue to just get my meds in an IV.  I am so thankful that my port functioned so well during…

Getting Ready For Maintenance

Written Apr 5, 2011 1:26am I had a great visit with my Dr on Friday.  My labs were GRRRReat! I will be having my first maintenance dose tomorrow (Tuesday) at 10am.  It will take about 5 hours or so.  Not looking forward to all the drugs hitting my system again, but thankful at the same time for what their purpose is! My Dr did ask me how I like my new life…I had to tell him I LOVE it!  I get to be at home with my family and yet work from home through my Shaklee business. I feel like my cancer has given me a voice for so many things…testifying to the Lords faithfulness and goodness and also sharing what I’ve learned with others about creating healthier lives and homes through my new “career”.  It’s been a blessing to be able to minister to my family and others.  It’s been amazing to…

Maintenance Chemo Schedule

Written Mar 30, 2011 11:39am Quick update.  I had labs on Monday.  I was supposed to see Dr Goksel (oncologist) on Tuesday but he was ill and they rescheduled me til Friday morning.  So it looks like I will be starting my maintenance chemo Rituxan Monday or Tuesday.  Some people have heard that I am doing chemo again and have gotten worried.  This chemo has been part of the original plan for my treatment when I was diagnosed a year ago.  I knew from the beginning I would have to do 2 1/2 years of maintenance therapy.  1 treatment a week for 4 weeks then a 6 month break.  I have to repeat that 4 times so it’ll take more than a couple years.  I just wanted to clarify that so that people would not be concerned.  I am still feeling great, no swollen lymph nodes AT ALL!  I appear…

Richard

Written Dec 29, 2010 1:42pm For those of you that know my dad, Richard was diagnosed with Esophageal cancer a week after I was diagnosed with Lymphoma this March…. Richard passed away this morning and went to be with Jesus at 12:43 am.  We spent the evening gathered around him, singing old hymns, holding his hands and telling him how much we loved him and how Jesus was waiting for him to come Home.  What a blessing to know that he is now at peace…we figure he’s probably already got his “red tractor” picked out in Heaven or he’s out chasing after ducks! The viewing will be Sunday, January 2nd from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at King’s Memorial Home in Mentone, IN and the funeral will be Monday, January 3rd at 1030 am at the Etna Green United Methodist Church in Etna Green, IN. We thank you all so much for your prayers, cards,…

Brag On The Lord

Written Oct 12, 2010 8:27pm “Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim His greatness.  Let the whole world know what He has done.”  Psalm 105:1 I am giving thanks for a negative PET scan, Salvation, the gift of life and the blessing of my family. Please join me in bragging on the Lord.  Post something you are thankful for in my guestbook. Medical update….  I continue to feel better!  I have labs and see Dr Goksel on the 25th of this month to discuss maintenance planning and the future. Love Kim
