I am thankful for a cancer diagnosis. Good morning! Hope your Thanksgiving was a great time to connect with family and friends and recount why you are thankful. I am thankful that on March 9th, 2010 I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lymphoma. Does it sound strange that I am so thankful for receiving a stage 4 cancer diagnosis? It may, but it’s true. Right from the beginning God worked in my heart to see cancer as a blessing and not a curse. The months following that diagnosis were filled with fears, anxieties but HOPE always won out. His promised always proved true. Here are some of the biggest lessons I learned. 1. Perspective. With only God’s help I was able to see a cancer diagnosis as a way to grow in my faith, allow God to love on me and choose to not complain or say, “why me?” Instead…

Orange Dreamcicle Smoothie

Orange Dreamcicle Smoothie This is a great refreshing summer time smoothie. Use as a meal replacement or after a hard summer work out to replenish electrolytes and soothe achy muscles. I have 2 versions of this smoothie.  A quick on the go option and the second if you have more time and a blender Quick Orange Dreamcicle Smoothie 8 oz coconut almond milk (or milk of your choice) 2 heaping teaspoons of Orange Shaklee Performance 2 scoops Shaklee Vanilla Protein (either 180, Energizing soy or Vitalizing protein) Mix in a shaker cup or mason jar If you have a blender or NutriBullet  Add… a 1/2 to whole frozen banana (sliced and put in freezer the night before) This will make smoothie thicker and add some more calories if needed. Chocolate, Raspberry Delight Recipe This is another “Eat Your Smoothie” Recipe. Ingredients: Siggs Raspberry Greek Yogurt – 1 Container 1 scoop Shaklee 180 Chocolate Smoothee Mix 1 TBS Milk (Cashew, Rice, Almond…whichever is your favorite) Several Frozen Red Raspberries 6 Chopped Pecans Directions: Mix Yogurt, Smoothee Mix and Milk in bowl. Sprinkle Frozen Raspberries and Pecans on top. Optional: You can add a drop or two of chocolate Stevia for a richer, chocolate flavor. Calories: 250 Protein: 23 grams Great for a breakfast or light lunch! Add a salad for more of a meal.

Sometimes I “eat” my smoothie instead of drink it. Especially if I am having it for lunch like I did today after church. This is my favorite but you can mix up the yogurt flavor, fruit, lime instead of lemon etc. to make it custom to your tastes. 1 container of Siggs Coconut yogurt 1 scoop of Shaklee 180 Vanilla Smoothee Protein mix Generous squeeze of fresh lemon Mix that together Top with several blueberries and granola with sliced almonds This is so good! With Siggs yogurt about 13 grams of protein and 1 scoop of Shaklee 180 protein at 8 grams of protein, this is a great option as main course for any meal! Enjoy! PB, Banana Smoothie

This is my absolute favorite Smoothie recipe. I don’t have a catchy name for it so if you want to throw out some suggestions, I’d love it! 8oz Almond Coconut Milk, unsweetened 1/2 Banana 1 tsp Natural Peanut Butter (OR 1 T. PB2) 4-5 Ice Cubes. 2 scoops Shaklee 180 Protein Vanilla Smoothee mix Put first 4 ingredients in the blender…after smooth, add in the 180 Protein Smoothie mix until well blended. Makes one serving
